Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received on Friday Mr Dick Durbin, a member of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
The Armenian leader stressed the important role of Armenia’s friends in the US Senate, as well as the Senators’ support to Armenia, which proved highly significant for Armenia’s development and regional stability.
The Armenian president noted that the US has over the past 20 years rendered essential financial, humanitarian and technical assistance to Armenia. He expressed gratitude to the US government, people and Congress.
President Serzh Sargsyan also thanked Mr Dick Durbin, who is co-author of the Armenian 'genocide' resolution submitted to the US Senate in March 2007.
The sides also discussed development of Armenia-US relations, regional problems.
Armenia’s Acting FM Edward Nalbandian received on Friday Mr Dick Durbin, a member of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
Mr Nalbandian made a high assessment of the Armenia-US comprehensive cooperation, which has recently received impetus due to joint efforts. He stressed that mutual visits contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
Mr Durbin thanked Mr Nalbandian for the reception and stressed that Armenia-related issues have for years been the focus of his attention. He said he is glad to visit Yerevan and get the information on Armenia’s stance on regional problems from the country’s leaders.
Armenia’s Acting FM informed the US Senator of the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
The sides discussed problems on the South Caucasus and neighboring regions and ways of resolving them.
